Daughter of the Most High God, I welcome you to year 2019 which for us as the Ladies Ministry is a year when we enter into the realm of fulfilling divine purpose.
The reason why I said so is because our theme for this year is ‘The Missional Woman’. It is the year when we are intentional and focus on being missional in every way possible: at home, at work, at the bank, at the supermarket etc.
However the question is: ‘What does it mean to be missional woman?’
A missional woman is a woman who defines herself and organizes her life around her real purpose of being an agent of God in order to engage others with the gospel message. In other words, her posture, her thinking, her behaviours, and her practices is like that of a woman on a ‘rescue mission’ – to bring others to Christ.
A good example of a woman in the Bible who did exactly just that is the Samaritan woman who met Jesus at the well. The Bible tells us that after her encounter with Jesus, the woman went to town telling everyone how she has met this man who told her everything she ever did. John 4:39 says that “Many of the Samaritan people in that town believed in Jesus. They believed because of what the woman had told them about him. She had told them, “He told me everything I have ever done.”
It’s important to note that the woman simply shared ‘her story’. She was not necessarily theological but she shared ‘her story’. Sometimes we worry that we don’t know enough theology, and that we won’t know the answers to people’s questions. But the thing is, God will give us the words to say when we ask Him for help.
Likewise, we too can impact others by sharing how Jesus has transformed our lives and made us who we are today.
The Bible says: ‘But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect’ (1 Peter 3:15 NIV).
I would therefore like to invite you to join us as we unpack how to be ‘missional’ through various meetings such as our Ladies Forum, Prayer Conference, Summer and Autumn Conferences. I’m sure you’ll see being ‘missional’ in another light and be encouraged to share your story with others which is the divine mandate given to us by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
As we do this, it strengthens our own testimonies while enabling us to grow and be relevant. But most importantly, we bring pleasure to the heart of God as we work together with Him to bring others ‘home’ to Him.
Daughter of the Most High God, I welcome you once again to year 2019 and pray that you’ll be blessed as you become missional.
