For the TRC challenge we asked people to write 1000 things to give God thanks  for based on Eph 5:20 where it says ‘always giving thanks to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.’

Ann Voskamp, author of the New York Times bestseller ‘one thousand gifts’ explores this in her book.

As a child, her sister was crushed under a truck in front of her and her mother.  Consequently, her mother checked herself into a psychiatric hospital and her father couldn’t find God.  As an adult, she stood beside her brother-in-law as he buried his first two sons. Yet as a wife and mother of 7 children she has decided to imitate the life of Jesus and give God thanks everyday. She says ‘Joy is always a function of gratitude — and gratitude is always a function of perspective.’

This was  not just about a competition it was about having a lifestyle of gratitude. As Christians we need a better understanding of Kingdom principles.

Even successful millionaires around the world write in  gratitude journals every single day as a habit and they are being  blessed and most of them are not even Christian. Adriana Huffington, Tony Robbins and Oprah Winfrey have practised this principle for years. Tony Robbins says ‘you can’t be grateful and fearful simultaneously!’

The competition is now closed and a special thank you to all those who worked so hard to hand in their entries on time. We will announce the winner soon, watch this space! In the meantime let us look at Colossians 3:17:

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

I pray today you may lead a life of gratitude! In Jesus mighty name Amen!
